RIP UP Gondola

It’s a sad day on the AJ&L line. We lost a good friend today, my Bachman UP Gondola ended it’s own life yesterday when it decided it just couldn’t take anymore and lept from the track and bench to a shear 44" drop (what is that in scale feet?) to the cement floor. I thought it would survive but one of the trucks broke in half and I don’t have one that will replace it right now. I really liked this car too, it was heavy, had metal body and never caused me one bit of grief. All because I left one switch in the wrong position. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, CRASH!!! Oh No!!! Maybe someday I’ll resurect her but for now she’s going in the heap. I’m just glad it didn’t take anyone else with it, namely the “Recycled Steel” Gondola that was trailing it.

Sounds like something to put on that track next to the roundhouse, with one end temporarily resting on cribbing while the carmen repair the body bolster preparatory to installing a new truck.

Every disaster breeds a new opportunity.

Or possibly as a trackside storage area. Alot of wrecked cars became storage areas for yards, though few survived 319 ft falls.

That’s a good idea Chuck, I figure sooner or later I’ll be able to find a truck for it or just wait until I do my Kadee conversion to bring it back on line, but in the mean time, I have just the place for it and a crane to lift it too. Niccccccccccce! Thanks for the idea.

Just wait till your next Bach takes a death dive and maybe you’ll end up with enough parts to fix it.[:D]
