I have a cookie cutter flange berk from rivarossi. I want to take it apart and clean and oil it. But I just don’t want to jump in and start ripping into it and break something. Does anyone have the instructions for this. I have checked the website with all the drawings but they only have the parts list.
Any help would be appreciated.
Mike
2 screws, one fakes a detail at the smokebox front, standard flathead jewelers screwdriver works.
underneath, shove the rear tucks to the side (you could remove them) you find another screw off to the side a bit, I think thats all you need, watch for the handrails on the cab.
The engine uses a double worm setup, motor to worm with vertical drive to wheels.
you can unscrew the worms set on top, open the case and put some plastic compatible grease in, careful about the transfer parts if you pull the casing all the way off, it has a slotted plastic transfer, if you pop that out, youi can use a flat blade screwdriver to afix it back, then caefully line up the worm gear blade and replace it.
Bottom gear, take the bottom cover off, a few screws, look for the open side of the worm gear box, grease it, no need to pull the drivers off.
oil the motor and bearing points of the gearboxs, then oil the axle slots and all the valve gear, and the pistons/
Thanks din for that info. I am going to start on that next!!

Mike,
You can also refer to the instructions at HOSeeker.

The motor and boiler weight went thru several revisions, but I think everything else remained consistent.
If I’m not mistaken there might also be a screw under the small dome aft of the Sand Box which is easily removed with finger nails or other thin blade. Once exposed a philips head jewellers screwdriver will do the trick.

Thanks everyone. Din the 2 screws you mentioned lifted the boiler right off. I didn’t know that ho seeker had updated and put in the instructions I found that very helpful as well for what to oil.
Thanks again
I think the articulateds had a pop off dome cover for the screw in the middle and a detail at the front pops off for screw access. Funny BLI used the same trick on the 2-6-6-4, same detail, heh.
