Rivarossi 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific Crescent Limited Tender Trucks/Wheels

Hello,

Currently I have a pre-owned 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific Rivarossi Crescent Limited
I got back in 1989, at Woodie’s Train Shop. The trucks, and wheels of the loco
were worn, and it’s been difficult to find replacement parts for the tender trucks,
and wheels. I was told Lima / Rivarossi went into retooling and parts are not
available? I live in Central Texas, the Hobby Stores in Waco, don’t carry or even
have these parts? I’ll pay for replacement parts via money order, or is there an
online site I can still get parts? Are these Rivarossi engines valuable, or can I
just set it in my barbeque grill and have it for fire fodder? I’m so upset that a
good engine will be scrapped because parts aren’t available? I don’t want to
go all over Texas just to find these parts. (I have no car) Can anyone help?

Sincerely,
Micha’el

A tender truck and wheels shouldn’t be that difficult to locate for that loco. The same trucks were used on a few different tenders. A more specific description of the parts needed might help, I have some misc. Rivarrossi parts.
If you don’t want to go through the trouble of locating the parts, you might make a deal with BUDLINER, I believe he’s looking for a set of drivers for that loco.

You might try www.golfmanorhobbies.com and www.ihc-hobby.com

ebay lists thousands of train accessories. Perhaps you can pick up a replacement for parts.

WELCOME Micha’el

This is an old Rivarossi and my experience with these as far as running goes is not too good (Big Boy and two Berkshires). There is a lot of good Pacifics on the market now that are reasonably priced. I would check it out .

As far as value well there are several things you might think of if you want to recoupe your money.

  • Turn it into a theme park with a swing and slide set off the pilot
  • A stationary boiler for a factory
-A man made reef or break water
-A Memorial Park with your name emblazened on it
  • Gut it and have it pushed around by a motorized boxcar

These are just a few of the ideas given to me by my “Forum Buddies” after I declared the Big Boy dead.

Then again you might get lucky and someone else might have the parts and give them to you or you might try e-bay, that’s where I got a new motor for the BB, unfortunately that was in vain.

Best of Luck

Fergie

thanks ray sure I love a deal
