Does anyone have an exploded view of the assembly of a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy trailing truck. Don’t know year of manufacture however there is a can motor in center driving the gear towers for each driver set. Road # of Engine is 4002. Trying to repair for a friend, who just brought parts, can’t make sense out of leakage connections. Would much appreciate any help or diagrams that would help. Have tried a number of web sites but all appear to have different install than this one, mainly the motor is in the cab.
Spanky, do you need to know how to assemble the truck it self or how to mount the truck to the engine?
This statement makes me think of the rear engine.
Sorry I have not been of any help yet. A picture would help us to help you. Welcome to the site as well.

If that link don’t work, i might beable to have my son take some pictures of the rivarossi big boy i gave him, if you think that might help?
Thank you, however, this schematic is an older version of what I am working on. The engine we have has the motor in the center and the whole trailing truck setup is considerably different in to regards to linkages. Thank you again Spanky1
Thank you for your response. The problem is with the installation of the trailing truck assembly. There are a number of linkage bars, one coming off the rear drivers, one appears to go to attach to tender but no visible way to attach trailing truck to the engine itself or any linkage with holes for attachment.
Regards,
Spanky1
OK I am lost again. Nothing from the rear engine (drive wheel) should go to the rear trucks. Here is my PCM Big Boy. If you need a better picture let me know.
I am going to look at the diagram that Jim posted. All so PM a friend that has a Rivarossi Big Boy and see if he can help.
Mounting point(draw bar) to the tender will be higher up under the cab, well 95% sure.

Look at part 77, covers the gears of the rear engine. See the tap on the front of the rear truck? That tap fits either on top of 77, or between 77 and the rear engine (rear drive set) case in the last hole. I have not had my Big Boy apart for 3 years, but I am pretty sure mine is the same way.

Ken almost has it. The lug on the front of the trailing truck screws to the bottom of the rear engine (see screw 87 in the older drawing). The Trailing truck was never changed, aside from smaller flanges in the later version, so the attachment method is the same for all of them.
I submitted my scans of the newer manual to HOSeeker, but he hasn’t posted it yet, so here it is for anyone who needs it: Rivarossi 1994 Big Boy.zip
Screw 87 was the one I was thinking that would hold the rear truck Nelson, I was just in a hurry. Your link is not working, well from my end. The one think I did not see in Jim diagram is how the draw bar is mounted? Could the draw bar be on the tender of the Rivarossi?
Cuda Ken
There is a part from the rear engine that fits over the axle on the trailing truck
You have to remove that first
So you take that off
Put the trailing truck on the shaft that is on that part with the section going over the axle
Put the draw bar on the shaft
Looks like a screw holds the draw bar on
Then put that part back on the rear engine
Not the greatest pic but I hope kit helps
You can see the part going over the axle
You can see the screw on the left that holds that piece with the shaft on the engine
Ken, the link is working now. You may have caught me when I was re-uploading the file. I added the Hornby-Rivarossi exploded view that’s no longer available on their site, so give it another try.
The drawbar is permanently riveted to the trailing truck bracket, and the pin on the front of the tender rests in one of the holes at the end of the drawbar.
