The Allegheny a beaultiful monster and is a great runer engine. Every big steam fan shoud have one. The next step is provide a sound decoder for her!
The latest Rivarossi locomotive has NO documentation. The retailer and I emailed Selectrix and have received NO answer in over 2 weeks. The only paperwork inside the box was a warning not to run on AC current or shag rugs…DUH A beautiful model but where do all the small parts go and how do you take it apart?
Having just purchased one of the later release,s of the locomotive find it is a beautiful looking and running model and at this time would rate it with 5 stars.it is a delicate model and should be handled with care.
also on installing the the extra cab with the prototype roof length find you need to take extreme care switching the backhead into the new cab…the tabs for it being glued in.
i had to use a small jewlers screwdriver and hobby hammer to break the glue joint loose and then use a small file to clean the old glue from the tabs, plus slightly enlarging the slots on the new cab in order to get a proper fit.but it was defintely worth the effort.
Adding to my review I had bought this engine sans sound simply because of the poor reviews the factory sound units were getting. After running and breaking in my Allegheny purchased a Tsunami heavy steam decoder and HB speaker.
After installation was very pleased with the improvements over the factory sound that I had heard… also the Tsunami sound decoder does have the correct hooter style whistle for this engine.
motor control is also excellent.
again a 5 star rating for this engine
