Rivarossi engines - red box significance

Does anyone know if the Red Box Rivarossi engines means that they have the smaller .039" flanges? Is there any way to tell if an engine has the smaller flanges otherwise?(without seeing the engine that is).

I don’t think there’s any significance, Rivarossi IIRC used the red box for many years.

The red box was used by Rivarossi for many years so it makes no difference on what size wheel flanges will be on the locomotive. I have some with large flanges and some with small flanges that all came in red boxes.

Thanks guys, I think I know now not to use the Red Box as an indicator of wheel flange size.
