I lost track of things with Rivarossi. Is their Empire State Express Hudson still in production and if not, when was it made?

Nope. The only North American locomotives in the current Rivarossi line up are the unstreamlined NYC Hudson (their current version having Scullin disc drivers), the C&O Allegheny and two versions the UP Big Boy, one with sound and the other without.

My best guess is that the Empire State Express Hudson would have been produced last prior to 2000.

I purchased my Empire State and 21st Century Hudsons new in 1998 and I haven’t seen them for sale in stores since. Unused models do come up fairly regularly though on Ebay but they’re selling at a high price.
