rivets

can someone tell me the best way to remove rivets from a slidding shoe

thanks

First remove the wheels from the die cast truck, so you can get to the bottom of the rivet. Prying the metal clips that hold the base on the wheels may weaken the clips to the point of failure.

I have had good luck squeezing the crimped end with needle nosed pliers, to get the rivet to slide out.

To re-install, re-form the bottom of the rivet with a by tapping on a center punch. You can use a small square shafted screwdriver to support the top of the rivet, and sliding shoe, as you tap on the base of the rivet. Re-insert the wheels into the frame.

I have had success using a drill press to install these smaller rivets as well.
