I have an older(still plastic, no electronics) Rivorossi 0-8-0 in " broken" condition. Most of the plastic parts I have been able to reglue or spares box, but this unit has the motor in the tender and a drive shaft to the gear box up front. The drive shaft is broken and I have been unable to locate a parts supplier. I was wondering if anyone has a source for factory repair parts for Rivorossi?
Those tender drive 0-8-0’s were from the early sixties, I believe, so finding a drive shaft is pretty unlikely. Wasn’t it just a piece of rod with rubber tubing connections on each end? You could make one like that out of brass tubing and some silicone fuel line for RC vehicles, or use Northwest Short Line universals.
The most common problem with those tender drive 0-8-0’s and 2-8-0’s was that most of the zamac tender floors crumbled. If yours is intact, you’re lucky.
You could shoot a request to a friend of mine on eBay. He and a buddy sell AHM parts at a local train show, and have a huge inventory. His name is Joe: apee629
Thanx for the info. As soon as I posted it dawned on me that I could just make another plastic drive rod with bulk rod. I have all the broken pieces and flex tube so I have the necessary measurements. I will check with your friend also.
thanx again
