Rivorossi Passengers

I am trying to put some passengers in some 1930s Rivorossi coach and vista dome cars. Unfortunately, it appears as though the HO figures are too large/tall for the cars. Does anyone have any experiences with these cars and any recommendations. The figures don’t fit well in the seats and you can only see their torsos from outside the cars. I’m using some cheap Model Power figures and I’m not sure whether its the people or cars. I’m thinking its the cars/seats because the figures seem to match up in size with others I’ve purchased (Woodland & Priesing).

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed

Since you can’t see their feet, cut them off at the knees. I have had to do this to several different manufacturers’ passenger cars.

I thought of that but it seemed so…cruel. Alas, it may come to that.

Anyone with other ideas?

It’s the dilemma a lot of HO passenger train modelers run into.

The seat bottoms are too low to the floor so the options are: Cut off the legs or custom make seats that are better dimensioned.

For custom making seats, it’s a matter of getting a cubed shaped plastic material that sits about 1/8 taller, then gluiing flat back styrene pieces on with CA. I noticed that Lego blocks are great for cutting out smaller square shaped cubes. I may try this as I would like to have passengers in some of my Rivorossi cars, especially my lounges and diners.

Ok, forgive me, but I’m going to ask a naive question…After you cut the figures off at the knees, do you then just glue the figure to the seat ( cut area on the seat?) And doing it this way “raises” the shoulders of the figure so that the figure is at a more realistic height in the chair? Would you then have to raise the height of a table, say, if the figure was being placed in a dining car setting? If you don’t raise the table a bit, wouldn’t you then end up with the hips of the figure at the same level as the table?
Since I haven’t detailed any passengers cars, I’m just not certain how this would come out. Thanks for listening…
