roadbed for lionel tube track.

I have noticed that some of you guys have a cork roadbed under the
tube track. What are you using to make this with, full sheets?
my local shop dose not carry any roadbed for o-gauge, just ho and n.
Or is there any thing else I should consider instead of the cork?

I use rubber roadbed for my layout. Here’s where you can get it: www.roadbed.net

I use Midwest Cork Roadbed. It comes in 3 foot strips and has beveled edges.

Here’s one source:

I have used cork that I bought in a roll from Menards (or home depot) for like $7 per roll. I have also used the pink sheet wall insulation board ($5 a sheet) with good results. Add some wood or rubber ties and some paint and ballast and you will have some snazzy track.

No matter what you use, if you screw it to the board, you will have some rumbling. If you use open frame benchwork, it will be quieter. I have had both types on the same layout and it is easy to tell a difference.
