I started by laying out my track on the table. then i traced around the out side. next draw a line in the center of the lines you just drew. then just nail one end of the cork and shape it to follow the inside line. do the same for the other half of the piece of cork. If you are using flex track you can either do the same as above and tack it down tempararaly or you can draw the track plan with a straight edge and a home made compass. For the compass take a thum tack and a string. tie the string to the tack and measure out the radius of your track. (EX: 22" radius= 22" string) this will be your center line and you can start laying cork.[:D] hope this helps

Maybe you’ve seen this already, but this is one option from the Model Railroader site. http://www.trains.com/content/dynamic/articles/000/000/004/379dcjrm.asp

My cork came in sheets 1ft square, so it was a case of deciding where to lay the track by the paper method then carefully lifiting the paper cut outs and sliding the cork sheets underneath. Next came the job of pencilling in the lines to cut along to give sufficient roadbed plus extra for ballasting.

After cutting with a craft knife i glued them in position using a liquid nails product.
