Big hook? How many class one big hook cranes are left?
Big hook? How many class one big hook cranes are left?
Hmmm…headline was a bit scary until I read the article. Maybe “Roanoke derailment nearly brushes railroad museum” would have been more accurate?
That’ll buff out. A little Bondo and some turtle wax and they’ll be good as new.
Looks like the derail to the right of the workers did its job.
How does an unoccupied train cause a derailment at 4am? Does unoccupied also mean ‘not running?’
Would like more details. How did the locomotives rollorver but good to know no injuries or major property damage was involved, and that the Virginia museum only had a damaged fence. Would like to visit Roanoke someday.
Echos of “unstoppable”…unoccupied locos derailing. Out of belt controller range?
Did the webcam catch the derailment?
Thank goodness there was no Heritage Unit in that consist!
Unoccupied runaways? Unfortunate but interesting. At least there’s no mention of injuries, and no damage to the museum’s collection is good news. Trains, please follow up when the cause is determined.
I’d like to see some details about just how the heck this happened. “The locomotives were unoccupied…”, so I’m assuming they were parked. How do parked engines do a rollover?
There are signs that read, unmaned locamotives in this area. They are operated by remote control.
Please follow up. I agree with Mcfadden.
Also there must be a story we missed about Bunge’s comment. How many and where are big hooks. It stands to reason one would be in Roanoke but where else?
Bad day for the NS, first 30 some roadrailer trailers in Ft. Wayne, In. and now in the former N&W HQ in Roanoke. Glad no one was hurt in either accident though. But knowing the NS from experience the crew (s) had better have their "firing / whammy insurance paid up !
Really? Beltpack range? Somebody didn’t tie a brake and they rolled out and looks like they probably went through a derail which did its job.
Yeah, just like unstoppable.
