I can’t access the camera on Vista, Windows 7, or my iPad. WHY?
I have Win7 and can access both of the RailCams.
I am using Windows 7 and have 3 ways to access the Roanoke camera:

This one opens in a tab in Internet Explorer for a few seconds, which in turn opens Windows Media Player to show the streamed video. The tab then closes. This produces the highest resolution real time image of the 3 ways. This is good in that it is high resolution, but bad in that it takes the most bandwidth to transmit the images… if you pay by the byte or have a slow connection, then it ain’t so good.

This one opens in a tab to show a slightly smaller window in the tab to show the video. There are some advertising links displayed below the window (not at all intrusive). This is a slightly lower resolution, but still real time.

This one is like the 1st one in that it opens a tab which then opens Windows Media Player to show the streaming video. But the image is smaller, and updates only once every 1/2 second (or there abouts!). Useful for those that have a slow internet connection or pay by the byte for data received.
I sometimes use the 3rd one to monitor for activity and when I see something of interest, I close it and open the 1st one to get the good resolution and real time video updates.
NOTE: All of these are delayed by about 10 to 15 seconds from true time. e.g.: If you are talking to someone on a cell phone and they walk out in front of the camera and say they are waving, you will not see them wave for 10 to 15 seconds.
Now, can you see ANY of those feeds?
What browser are you using?
What
It will run in IE but not in Firefox which is my primary browser. Not running on the iPad also adds to the confusion.
It opens perfectly on my system with Windows 7 and Google Chrome. Your local ISP has perhaps some type of software that is preventing it from coming through.
With all those systems not able to connect, the only things in common would be a router or an ISP. Are you connecting Wi-Fi? If so it may well be a speed problem in the connection. If not, then I would look to the ISP. I have had issues in the past due to malware/spyware that after running something like Superantispyware I was able to connect.Just for your convenience here is the link. The freebie version is what I use.
It will play in IE but not Firefox nor on the iPad. Just installed a new wifi capable router but it didn’t play on the old router either. Might be settings in Firefox.
I have Windows XP as my O.S. and use Google Chrome as my browser, I can see the “Web Cam” just fine…
