Roberts Banks Coal train heading for a re-load

On a day that was the focus of loaded Grain trains over BNSF’s Steven’s Pass, an empty coal train rolled through a scene that features the Wenatachee river and some beautiful skies.

While the train rolled by a pair of Bald Eagles showed up in the trees above the train, but a 10mm lens doesn’t pickup an eagle at 300’.

Enjoy! http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=318194

Just a guess: that train is heading back to the new Signal Mountain mine (and 30-mile branch) in central Montana. They make 3, or 4, R/Ts a week thru Shelby, but I don’t know their western (loaded) route/destination. Most Powder River jobs use SD70ACs and are routed over MRL, a tough climb. Nice shot!
