Robot Chicken, which airs on Cartoon Network, takes a swipe at model railroaders. Here is a link to the episode. Click the 3rd of three scenes from the scene selection section below the video to get right to the specific segment. It’s 5 seconds into the the scene. This episode just aired this past Sunday night. It’s the typical stereotype that we’re all a bunch of losers who couldn’t get a date. Since I can laugh at myself, the segment doesn’t bother me at all.
I actually really like the show, but I think the writers are all around 30 as it spoofs a lot of the cartoons and shows that were on when I was elementary school aged. Basically, I think people much older than 40 and much younger than 20 probably wouldn’t get or relate to most of the jokes and parodies and may not enjoy the show as much (except the Star Wars episodes).
I saw that episode and laughed a lot at the model railroader bit. The funny part is that the whole show is dependant on model making, so it’s quite likely that there are model railroaders on the staff poking fun at themselves.
Next stop…LONELYVILLE!
That’s one of my favorite shows. They really do have some great model work. I’ve seen a few good train segments in it. I think some of the cars in the Alien Student Driver scene were Malibus. They get a lot of big name stars to do the voice over work.
