ROCHELLE DIAMOND

Who just saw a UPRR train pick up a person going WB at the diamond? Looks like somebody is getting a cab ride [:o)][8D][:D][:)]

You can bet that that person, whoever he was, is an officer with every right to be on that locomotive.

OK the sequence was 1st the person appeared walking right next to track. Then you saw the nose of the lead unit come ahead of the signal bridge & then stop where the person was now waiting. He hopped on & you could see him enter the cab & away the they went towards Clinton. [:p][8D][:D][:o)]

Odds are it was a crewmember sent ahead to inspect and flag the interlocker.

Several reasons to do this, one being the hi-rail truck you saw yesterday found a small problem, bad joint bar of something of that nature, or the signal system is being worked on, which would make this a manual interlocking plant until the signals are repaired.

If he didnt belong in the cab, the engineer wouldnt have stopped.
If he jumped on while it was moving, you would have seen him…uhh, well, fall off again right quick!

Well I pass on the sent ahead theroy sorry as at least 20 other UPRR trains has passed on that track today & they did not follow your procedure.

No for sure the train stopped to allow him on so the squa***heroy is also no good. Only after he reached the cab did the train proceed. [:o)][:D][:)][:p]

UP and BNSF big wigs like to ops test here every now and then. It very well could have been that. They don’t do but a couple of trains at a time when they do this because that diamond is so busy. I have been tested once there a few months ago by BNSF. That could explain him flagging thru, because that had to be what he was doing. When I did it there was a suited “official”(it was a superintendent) hiding in the little shack right by the diamond.

…Well, late afternoon I saw weird operations there…Believe it was 5:40 pm and a train was stopped across the diamond on Up…WB. Another train was coming towards the camera on the very south track along side the UP and being routed south on the BNSF…it was traveling slow and I believe it had 3 engines on so doubt if it was a local…and it was quite long too…Then the UP train resumed it’s movement {west}, and then the diamond was cleared…Didn’t watch beyond that time period so don’t know what may have occured right after those operations. I have never seen a train movement of any kind on that track {left side of picture and coming towards the camera and heading south}. It was interesting, but wonder what was really happening.

Well when I was their both UPRR & BNSF work the yard out of range of the camera. My only guess would be is a BNSF had been rerouted onto the UPRR & was returning to his home tracks via that track & the UPRR WB was waiting for the train moving onto the BNSF to clear the track so it could proceed. spbed…You may very well be correct in analyzing the situation but I’ve never witnessed a movement there like that…Especially a train stopped across the diamond. But then I’m not over there watching the op everyday…

Nor have I. I would have loved to have seen it. For sure though a train coming EB on the UPRR south track can come thru the yard & exit on the BNSF track by the trees. [:o)][:)][:p]

…8:40…2 more men looking all around the diamond and what looks like possibly a railroad SUV parked over to the right of the diamond…

Wait, someone got onto a train from Rochelle, and he/she got on the engine? WOW

it just occurred again a WB UPRR on the south track stopped at the signal bridge before the crossing & a person waiting there again entered the cab & then the train proceeded with the person on board,

…Must be a she…

H’mmm quite interesting thought. [:p][:D][:o)]
