Rochelle, IL

2 months ago i went to Chicago for for business. One afternoon I took a ride to Rochelle and I want to say that the town of Rochelle did a wonderful job with the park. I was there for five hours watching the trains, talking to all the other visitors (who were mostly from out of town) and do I have alot of great photos!. I recommend this TRAIN hot spot to all Train fans or as I was told we’re called…“FRN’s”.

Man I really need to get up and over to Chicago. I here they are also haveing a big train show in January. I also have here of lots of different and interesting lash ups over there. I plan on geting to Chicago sometime next year w/ another “trainjunkie” friend of mine. I’ll have to keep this Rochelle sight in mind.

I thought Detroit had alot of train hot spots - (that’s where I’m from) but let me tell you CSXrules - Chicago has ALOT of train hot spots! The cities around Chicago have many areas to see train: Dolton, Hedgewich, Calumet…Go to the TRAINS “Hot Spots” web site for more info.
Also - there is the Illinois Railraod Museum - not too far from Rochelle you have to visit.
I’ve been to PA - great starte - ansd I love the train there too - I will be going there to visit some more hot spot.
The Railroad in Strausburg PA is a great museum.

If you go down by Electromotive in La Grange you can see the new stuff as it leaves the factory, and the huge UPS hub that BNSF services.

I agree made it there last summer, and I belive that no trip to Chicago is complete without a trip here.

I admit that I have not been to EMD LaGrange in some time, but they have definetly torn down most or all of the erecting buildings since they do not do final assembly in LaGrange any more (that is done in Canada and Mexico). LaGrange only makes components these days, very sad.
