Is the cam there having a problem,The picture is shaded or darker.Sometimes it is brighter, mostley darker.,and it is just not the sun shining or not.Maybe my puter is dying.Any answers
I don’t think it’s just you or your computer–mine is dark, too, and the sky has a sort of pinkish tinge to it (definitely unnatural at this time of day!). I don’t know how often the lens needs cleaning, but I can imagine that a sort of coating would develop with thin layers of locomotive exhaust.
Also a problem: while I was checking this out just now, I noticed a distinct lack of trains. I don’t know what Mike and company can do about that, though.
…Same here, don’t blame your computer. The scene is darker and color different. Snow on the ground there now too. It was bare ground just the other day when I checked.
I checked the weather.com site and its overcast, and cold 28F, I remember someone here saying that cold weather affects the camera, couple that with the overcast skies, is likely whats causing the Martian landscape.
But Vic, 28 is downright balmy, compared to what we’ve had the past few weeks!
I just pulled up the web cam; when I first went to it, the sky was very pink. Now, it’s gotten darker, like a storm is brewing. Didn’t look to me like just an overcast sky.
If there are no trains comming,There is a lot of web cams all over.at RailServe.com.
some of you probably been there already. Dave Br
You can find a list of over 30 cams on the RailServe site here
There is a UP WB that just crossed the diamond. I believe it is weather related sunny=sharpness overcast (no sun)= darker image
This has happened every winter for years when the weather is cold, it will clear up once things get warmer, trust me.
Our outdoor surveillance cameras at work get fooled by bright sunshine + snow. I suspect all that light is overdriving the webcam, causing the odd effects.
You beat me to it.
Either that or the automatic exposure control is busted.
…If I remember correctly, the other day when I checked in to it, it was recording dark as it is now and believe the ground was bare.
And yes, we’ve seen it like that before…
Tree is absolutely correct – the camera is overwhelmed by the brightness reflected by the snow, causing that ghastly pink sky on overcast days. When it’s sunny, there’s a green tint. But all will return to normal after the snow melts.
Thank you to all for your interest in our Rochelle webcam, running continuously since May 2000!
