Hey all we all love the BNSF/UP/Trains.Com Rochelle Webcam.Like it a whole lot but how many of you Agree/Dissagree that Trains.Com should Upadate the Rochelle Webcam. I thnk it needs an Approvement such as Lower (FPS) Frames Per seconed,A bigger Picture where we can see it better and clearer and also for all of us who have Dial-Up Modems too. And for High Speed Modems aswell where we can select a Menu for Dial-Up Users for a Lower Frame Rate Per Seconded like starting at 2.5 to 1.5 and for High Speed Users liek 3.5 5.5.No I’m not saying the Rochelle Cam is not good its the best I have seen, but I think its time for an Update. What would really be cool is also a Live Rail Stream where we can hear and watch the trains at the same time using either Real One Player,Win Amp,Windows Media Player.Hope you guys dont get mad at me here its just and Idea.[8D]
I think that they should add more cams maybe one at Dolton you have alot of trains pass the interlocking tower CSX,IHB,UP. It’s a great hot-spot for trains.[
I was happy with the way it was.
I agree that they should update the rochelle webcam because the pictures skip, for example somtimes it will go from 9:55:07 to 9:55:09 it really stinks but dont get mad at me its just an opinion.Going off the subject they should have more web I know a couple good place like Deshler Ohio,Willard Ohio,Fulton California and,Seattle Washington.

It would be nice to have the camera on the west side of the crossing. Then we could also see the railpark and who’s all there. Just a thought. Also , more railcams are needed at places like Junction City, Blue Island, Dolton, etc.

Would it be possible to add a radio so we can hear the nearby detectors or dispatchers? That way we know when a train is approaching. How about linking it to a pop up! “YOU’VE GOT A TRAIN!”
They shoudl also add a Control Feature where we can controll it with a 360 Degree Control, thanks all for your Replies and Agrees on Updating it total 89% Agree With me Thanks[:)]
I agree entirely that the Rochelle web-cam is great. Would I like a controlable camera like some of the others, you bet, but in the mean time I like it just the way it is. More locations would be great as well. How about BNSF Eola yard for lots and lots of trains.
Although the reason for having the camera on top of the pavilion is obvious, I’m wondering about the possibility of having a northward-facing camera south of the diamond, so that one has a better idea of what’s going through. Ideally, it would be possible to read reporting marks and numbers off the equipment. It might be impossible to get enough distance between camera and objectives there, though.
Though webcams at Dolton and Blue Island would be nice, it would be difficult to find one location where everything, or almost everything, could be seen well.
I think it needs some updateing and should have a few more train watching spots like Fostoria, Ohio and other places
Would much rather see a second Webcam; say, Gibbon, NE, on the old Co-op roof facing west?
Here are some things to keep in mind with the Trains.com Rochelle web cam:
A) The City of Rochelle serves the web cam, so we cannot provide a picture updated more frequently than every 3 seconds without using more of their bandwidth
B) As far as sound goes, see point A. Sound equals more bandwidth.
C) As far as controllable cams, I personally think they’re too risky. If you get someone at the controls who either doesn’t know what they’re doing or has a slow connection that doesn’t respond quickly, you end up looking at everything but the train that just went by.

Well that leads to…
A & B : add a new camera supported by Trains.
C: Limit the time you can control it.
I like very much the wonderful opportunity the webcam gives to the people who lives
really far from the places they are mounted. Being at 8,000 miles from there and
the posibillity of looking at my favorite railroad is a blessing.
Thanks and leep going

So dose this Bergie Guys own this Cam dose he pay the money to operate it how should he know all that stuff hes justa Member Not A Owner of Trains.Com. And no im not starting a fight aor another Argument here just that he seems to know alot about the Rochellel Cam .Its all up to Trains.Com for them to let us know what can be done right. But eys its Need a bigger Picture and Etc.Thank You
Well I sure hope Trains.Com Upafate the Rochelle Cm that would be very cool,If they can do it like they did teh Milepost 235 Cam with a Control use, like they did before LiveTrains.Com well they can do it for the Rochelle Cam
PS SOrry I got mad and Etc on my last post I made yesterday Forgive me
Control-Stand,
This is a pretty good example of how meaningless arguements start in forums. Please read more carefully in the future. [:)] Don’t worry, I won’t hold it against you.
Enjoy the new forums.

I would like to see the image enlerged, so it is easy to see. It is an interesting crossing. Keep up the good work, and i live in Australia and found this site last month. What about a train programe, so we know what trains are coming, what type of train they are, what is the eta of the this point & what direction they are going.
i hate the 360 crap…the ft madison camera sucks alot cause most of the time when there is a train going by some idiot has it in the sky or in the water…it needs to be just focussed…and there should be a cam somewhere in canada…say union station…or brockville!
I think there should be a webcam in Fostoria, OH. Trains.com already knows how busy it is, there is already a live scanner feed, and there is a station right by the busiest diamond. Also, I think whatever happens to the rochelle webcam would be fine, there are alot of great ideas out there!!
