I’m new at this but does anyone model ROCKISLAND?
Not me. (But I probably have a model of a Rock Island box car somewhere here.) Nevertheless, I’ve heard the railroad was a mighty good road.

The real Rock Island has been gone for over 25 years. There is a lot of models available. You might want to go to this web site for more information:

I do. The portion I model is between Iowa City and Des Moines Iowa in 1978.

Welcome to the forum.
I do the Rock Island in N Scale, freight and passenger. Look for the Rock Island Technical Society.
The RITSlist has a Yahoo discussion group. I can help you some having grown up in Illinois.

Well Rock Island must still be popular since (aside from having an historical society) there is a magazine dedicated just to it, “Remember The Rock”. Last year (or late 2007?) they put out a special issue called “Rock Island Modeller”.
I am a Rock Island nut! I collect timetables and the like, going to model it, and run on portions of it. Like mentioned before, RITS,RTR and Jeff Prince guide to the Rock Island are some of the BEST places to visit.
I live and work in the Quad Cities so any questions about this area feel free to ask.
I did a lot of Rock Island equipment for one of my early biggest customers when I ran a paint shop which got me interested in it myself. Here’s http://home.comcast.net/~jerryglow/caboose.htm a bunch of my and customer cabooses including a few RI ones.
