For reference, Dave K’s shot is looking back over toward the Mountainside that I shot the Bird’s eye view pic from…I was sitting at the edge of the treeline…its a steep drop…
When I was sitting up on the Mountain a couple of weeks ago, I was eyeing the very spot on the West Shore that Dave K. took this latest pic from as a photo op location
It is a 2 minute climb up there, Dave.
But it is very steep and rocky. A hiking
staff is strongly recommended.

I might add that the two photos were taken an hour
and 26 minutes apart. In that time, the sun moved
northward, thus illuminating much more of the
interior of the arches in the second image.

That is the mountainside they removed to widen Rt15 right?
Good imagery!
From my perch, I could look down at Routes 11/15.
In the photos, I’m looking east/southeast.
Dave
The Mountain in the background is on the East Shore…Rte 22 is beneath it…
Putting it in perspective, here is my Birdseye pic again…It appears that Dave K’s pic was shot from above the rockcut diagonally across off to the right of the Bridge directly in line with the old bridge piers…My shot was on the East Shore looking over toward Rte 11/15…his shot was taken from the West Shore looking toward the Rte 22/322 side. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=141429
Another view looking west, with better light:

If you draw a vertical line from the nose of the eastbound
loco, I was sitting on the ridge where it intersects the
tree line.
