Just wondering if Rocky Mountain House is still getting frieght service from either Canadian Pacific or Canadian National. I’m guessing it was or is primarily lumber products being shipped out of this area.
Rocky Mountain House, AB, was originally served by both CN and CP. The CN line continued on to the coal mine at Nordegg. Sometime in the 1980’s an agreement was reached and CP abandoned its’ line to RMH. Also, at some point, the CN line was abandoned from a point several miles west of RMH, over to Nordegg. At that point, Ullin Jct., a new CN line was built SSW to serve sulphur plants at Strachan and Ram River.
Even as a kid I remember hearing talk of wanting to abandon the CP line. After Highway #11 was built, it was a money pit.
