Wouldn’t that be “Antonito”, CO? DPM continues to revolve.
It’s Antonito not Antonio. I’ve ridden the train several times & know it well.
Just for the record, Antonio, Colorado, was the name of the original settlement, and when the D&RG arrived, they started Antonito, Colorado, nearby, following the pattern of Colorado Springs next to Colorado City, and Durango next to Animas City. The railroad needed to sell real estate to help finance the construction.
I have ridden photo specials on both railroads and I can tell you without hesitation that they are both beautiful experiences!
It’s America and capitalism is not essentially evil. The railroad starting their own town is not evil, but good business. Good business is not wrong. Limiting the creativity of people to make money is wrong. Government interference is wrong.
The answer is simple is you don’t like something vote against it, move away, or otherwise make your opinions known, but don’t restrict free enterprise. The consequences are communism where you only get one choice and that choice is inferior to a free market society. Nothing is perfect, but capitalism is better than greedy big government.
There, please don’t pull my chain again. Thank you.
