Thanks for the link. Its nice to know that I share something in common with someone as wealthy and succesful as him… that when I work on my trains “The rest of the world can bugger off!”
Was’nt his layout covered in MR or RMC magazine not too long ago ?
Found it " December issue of Model Railroader " Carl swanson, Classic Toy Trains
" Shortly before Carl’s visit was over, he got the proverbial “offer he couldn’t refuse.” Rod invited him to accompany him on his private jet to fly from Los Angeles to Chicago. It’s not every day that editors enjoy chef-prepared meals at a Beverly Hills estate and then fly home with an international rock star in a Gulfstream jet.
Read the article on his layout in the Dec. 07 MR issue. You’d expect a rock star to be out partying after the show. Instead he’s back at the hotel building craftsman kits![8D]
No I don’t think “RR Magazine Bible” is a sister publication [%-)]. I think that was Rod’s way of referring to Model RR magazine (European humor). It sounds like he was referring to the same mag the article was featured in. Rod is really a nice guy - I met him about 5 or 6 years ago as I once worked at a private club down in Palm Beach, FL and he would come in from time to time.
I got a kick out of it when he said,
“The rest of the world can go “bottoms up” when I am playing with my trains.”
I’ll bet he really enjoys being able to go into his train room or workshop, and get away from the crowds, the noise, the hectic lifestyle, and just set down, relax and work on his train stuff.
I feel much the same way when I finally get home from work after being gone a day or two or three, and just go downstairs away from all the crazy things in the workaday world, and just set down and relax and do WHAT I WANT TO DO!!!
For all I know the upstairs of my house is filled with groupies desperate to throw themselves at me.* I’m sorry but I’m in the basement and far too busy with my trains.
