Roland and the fan train

Roland…
Fan train left the PTRA yesterday at 10:00 am…should be in your neck of the woods tomorrow or the next day…lots of hubs and nacells on open flats, should make for good photos…

Ed

Thanks for the update Ed.
By the way, will there be any “shackle boxcars” in tow??
Roland

Ed: Send one my way, please.[8D].

Unrelated note: I got your E-mail. I don’t think you told me anything I didn’t know![;)]. It does make us non-railroaders value the opinions of those in the business. I do appreciate your insight, and opinions. Thanks

Only a bit off topic, but got to watch Emmert invent the wheel this week. A truck hauling one of the wind turbine generators turned over in the middle of the I-84 / I-205 interchange in Gateway (about 10 miles East of downtown Portland) completely shutting down part of the interchange for 4 days. Now, I know some folks that have had lots of experience getting stuff like that out of tunnels, snowsheds and rocksheds. Could have done the job in about 3 or 4 hours instead of days.

Why they were shipping this thing on a truck (80 tons and very long load) instead of a flat car from wherever to Eastern Washington is unknown to us public folk. The movers and shakers up here need to come talk to your Houston folk, I think.
