rollers?

where would i get some HO rollers, and are they worth the price?[^]

What do you mean by rollers? Where do they go?

They’re the plastic thingys your wife puts in her hair to make curls. [:)] No, seriously, I think what Countershot is talking about are the roller gizmos you place on powered track so you can run in your locos. Micro-Mark has them:

and their latest paper catalog offers them unassembled as item 83176 for $ 37.95. I guess if you don’t have a test loop they are worth it. There are other vendors that offer something similar.

I’ve been looking for a rolling road testbed in HO/OO for ages - the snag is most of them cost more than the price of a good loco. Hornby are now offering one for £30 (just under $60) which is a major breakthrough - the snag for many would be that it only has three rollers (intended for testing anything up to a pacific or their older single-truck drive diesels). Having said that, extra rollers can be had for £10 per pair, and from what I’ve seen it looks as though the whole thing disassembles easily enough so you could replace the track (intended to hold a steam loco tender or the unpowered end of a diesel) with another three rollers or more.
