The new Roundhouse 4-6-2’s are being advertised at Trainworld. Has anyone even seen these yet?
The Horizon web site says due late December 2009. I have one on preorder at my LHS, I just picked up a good sized Athearn order from him last week, if they where available, mine would have come then. I’ll let you know when it shows up.

Trainworld advertises almost every model that has been announced. Their new ad has items on it that probably will never see the light of day. Still, I have purchased many items from them over the years since they have some of the best sale prices anyplace.

Thanks for the information.
I had hoped that after all the delays that somehow production had started and the unit were now here.
The Roundhouse site says December also. The date keeps getting pushed back every so often. Good prices online if you shop around.
Looks like late March for the sound versions.

The roadnames are mostly Eastern, no SP - somehow I always thought that Athearn was mostly based on Western prototypes?
Any idea how close this engine is to any of SP’s classes of Pacifics? I notice there’s no Vanderbilt tender, either, so I suspect the odds are not good…

Grehard, while the current crop of Genesis steam locos (Big Boy, Challenger, MT) are western prototypes, Athearn has a long history of covering all North American prototypes/roadnames pretty evenly. I model the east and have tons of Athearn, just no Genesis steam locos. Western Maryland and B&O Genesis F units, western?
This loco is a revision of the USRA light they offered a while back, the second steam loco under the Genesis label, now with a new drive, built by a new supplier and offered under the Roundhouse line. It reflects as-built USRA light Pacifics and would therefore also be similar to several other locos built right before and right after the USRA period.
I’m not a SP expert, but I don’t think its close to any SP prototypes.
