Roundhouse Cupola Caboose Question

I would like to add an interior and some lighting to a Roundhouse 84372 WP-726 RTR cboose. This a a nice model with truss rods and wire grab bars (needs to be weathered).

When I removed the trucks, couplers, and floor, I ran into another floor with the weight inside. I cannot figure out if I can get further access to the interior non-destructively. Does anyone have an idea of how to get to the interior of this thing? Is there a way taking off the roof? Some trick to getting in through the floor? [%-)]

Check out the picture below:

That’s a permanent floor-part of the original body casting. On the kits, the only access was through the roof, which is a separate casting. The RTR caboose has the roof securely cemented on–I know from experience. Frankly, I don’t know how you could get the roof off without damaging it. Wish I could help, I was thinking of lighting mine, also, but unless there’s a trick to it that I haven’t discovered, that roof seems on there to stay!

Thanks, Tom,

Bummer! Shouldn’t it be an insustry standard to be able to get inside of cabooses, RTR or not?

[sigh]

I once saw a photo of an old Western Pacific caboose that was basically the same style as the one you have there only it was brown with yellow lettering. You might consider making one up like that and leaving that one as it is… Just a thought.
