Roundhouse

Hi!
Do they make a roundhouse for the eleven position Atlas turntable[?]

I haven’t built one, but I’m sure you would just need to use sevral kits to make one. Most of them i have seen are only three stalls.

The original Atlas TT had 30 degree radial tracks. There may have been some kits with stalls that matched this wide spacing, but I doubt there is anything available today. The current Atlas TT has 15 degree radial tracks, and the only model roundhouse I am aware of that matches it is the one Atlas markets.

Jim

The current Atlas turntable has 20 positions, indexed (as Jim pointed out) at 15 degrees. The Atlas roundhouse matches up nicely, but it is only 3 stalls. On the other hand, this is a cheap enough kit that you can get 2 or 3 and put them together. Atlas actually designed the kits to do that, and they even provide a couple of extra parts so it goes together nicely.

The new 20-slot turntable is an exact drop-in fit for the old one, and you can probably find one for under 20 bucks. The motorizing kits are also interchangeable.

Thanks everybody I guess I’ll just change out the eleven position For the twenty

Yeah, that’s what I did. Here’s a shot of my Atlas roundhouse. The interior detailing is all scratch-built, mostly using wood coffee stirrers. It’s actually a pretty nice kit if you take the time to paint and detail it.

Mister Beasley, Could you provide more photos of your Atlas turntable and roundhouse. I am looking to install a turntable and roundhouse on my next layout which should be starting construction this fall when we move into our new basement with a house on top. The Atlas kits seem affordable and I would like to know how well it works on your layout.

Mr B - I also would like to see some more interior shots. I like the idea of coffee stirrers for the floor. I have a brand new Atlas Tt but so far have not been able to use it. It will fit my Geeps but not my steam.
