My Dad worked on one out of Winnipeg. He said is favourite run was going North. Lots of good stories.
There is one on display here. Beautifully restored.
Here is a link that may be of use to you. It’s indexed by car number so you might have to do some scrolling to find what you need. Passenger Car Photo Index Hope this helps.
Can’t give you a photo link, but I’ve even seen Canadian National Royal Mail cars, in the 1954 livery, lettered to proclaim them as cross-border cars able to carry US mail. Pretty sure Con Cor made one, HO scale.
Thanks, I found some great photos of mail and baggage cars.
Thanks again, Sheldon
My question is, would there be any reason the C.P.R. and the C.N.R. would NOT have RPO’s ?
Somedays, trying to find anything doing with Canadian road names in this hobby, locos, rolling stock etc, you’d think Canada never had a railroad!
Maybe one day you will get a computer to help you in your quest
You should be doing standup.
He’s doing the 21 century version,Sit down comedy,LOL…

Which raises a point that I think so oftern about. Before the personal computer and access to the Internet, you pretty much had to pay a visit to the local library to research anything.

Yeah, and you probably had to walk uphill, both way’s,to get to the,Library…

While RPOs were common during the early/mid 20th century, at some point they practically disappeared - soon after the mail contracts were cancelled. I believe this happened in the US in the early '60s, but not sure when it occurred in Canada.
Canada has (had) rail **WAYS.

As usual, Google should be your friend. Use of Railway Post Offices in Canada ended in April 1971, by which time only a few runs were still operated by the post office. In older times there was a very extensive network.
