Today is the start of the college football bowl season. These games are sponsored by corporations. This will never take place but what if the major rrs were sponsors of these games? One such bowl is supported by a trucking company. Here is the brainstorming on what the bowl lineup could be if the nations rrs were part of the game. Warbonnet Bowl (BNSF) Dallas…City Of San Francisco Bowl (UP) San Francisco…, Southern Belle Bowl (KCS),New Orleans or Shreveport…Chessie Bowl (CSX) Jacksonville…Thoroughbred Bowl (NS) Atlanta. This could go on and on but i’d say this is enough.
Are fallen flags allowed?
Cool idea in my mind as I love college football ; would give the industry some much-needed national exposure. Not sure if they’d be willing to cough up the $$$ to do it but, still…
Disgruntled railroaders (now where could I find some of those? [;)] ) would compete in their nominations for the Toilet Bowl.
Don’t forget the ConRail bowl at either the Meadowlands, Newark, NJ, Phila., PA, and/ or Detroit, Mich.
What about the Canadian railroads ?
Some of the larger regional RRs or shortline conglomerates could have a bowl game with just the colleges and universities on or near their lines . . . [swg]

If thats the case then:
The Nickel Plate Bowl in Cleveland
The Alton ‘Road’ Bowl in St. Louis
The Boston and Maine Chowder (Chowda) Bowl in Boston
There’s soo many more.

In total agreement. Sort of off topic but the 1987 Kansas-Kansas St game was a late season game, both teams were bad, the game was sloppy with many mistakes. The score ended in a 16-16 tie. KU finished 1-9-1, KSU 0-10-1. Sports Illustrated labeled that game as the ‘Toilet Bowl’. Both teams desreved it.
