Atlas, according to their website is now shipping HO & N RS-1’s…
WOO HOO!! I’ve already got my digiframe and decoder for it…
Great!
What’s a Digiframe?
Matthew
Awesome! Hope they are producing B&Ms!
Nope, they arent[:(]
Digiframes are machined replacement frames for N’Scale locos, made by Southern Digital, that provide a space for the decoder to live in. With HO, there’s usually plenty of room for a PNP decoder but not so with N Scale. A company called Aztec Trains also sells modified fatory frames. Their’s are factory framesthat have been milled to accept the decoders, while SD’s are machined from scratch and are made from a heavier material so that the machined frame is actually heavie than the unmodified factory fram… That provides a little more weight for traction. I’ve used Aztec with good results, but I’m curious about SD’s so I’m going to try a couple of them…
It’d be nice if Atlas offered the RS1 in the NdeeM Color Scheme as well.FYI:Why do our Amigos South of the Border get such short shrift in the Model Railroad Industry?
All is not totally lost. Athearn’s re-release of the MDC RS-3 has a couple of units in NDeM colors. http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH94007
