'Rub-down' decals?

Have anyone tried it to make your own decals?

That’s pretty cool…

I tried it and had little success with the system. The transfer method required spraying the adhesive onto the transfer image back. It was impossible to get the right amount to be consistent for the small freight car lettering. There was always a part that wouldn’t transfer.

It seemed like a great idea.

Just a thought

Ok, thanks for the info. It seems that it’s not that good. Maybe it’s better with decal paper?

I have used their toner transfer system to make iron on drawings for photo etching brass parts. It works very well with enough toner to work with. My HP LaserJet has a utility to set the toner rate anywhere from 1 to 5. 3 is normal. I found that setting it at 5 and sometimes running the toner transfer paper through twice provides enough toner to make a good transfer onto the brass. On large sheets they have a heated machine that rolls the print and the brass through it, several times if needed. These are basically laminators which can be bought a Staples, etc.

The decal process is essentially the same except with using the colored foils. I know of no other way to print white, silver and gold lettering. If you buy one of the RR fonts you will probably be able to duplicate anything you want. The only shortcoming is that you only get one sheet out of one toner transfer sheet.

The owner is very helpful and can help with any problems such and adhesive application or whatever. E-mail him.

any one know of a way to make your own DRY transfer lettering like that of woodland scenics… so you can make your own logos and such?
