Rubber stamp heralds

G’day, Y’all, Has anyone ever had heralds made into rubber stamps at your favorite office products company and then stamped the painted image onto the side of a wood or plastic car or engine? Did it work?

When I was a kid I had a printing kit that had individual rubber letters like typeset, I used them to print white lettering on cars. It worked well.

Before Walthers and Champ started making decals c.1940, it wasn’t uncommon for a model railroader to get rubber stamps made to letter their cars or engines. Otherwise, a lot of guys lettered the cars by hand !! [:O]

Early Athearn and MDC (and probably others) were “printed” with rubber stamps including early plastic models. The tampo print used now was developed later.

Now you would want to go with a pad printer, more expencive but you can get the same quality as the factorys do.
