Hi guys & gals
Some one mentioned to me about how to run both the HO & On30 trains on one layout.
He told me to run a scenic divider ( two foot tall ) down the middle the long way .
put buildings on one side that is On30 & the other side Ho buildings.
The table would be 4x10 or 4x12 or maybe 5x10 .
what are your thoughts/opinions on this ?
Thanks in advance .
Should work. The On30 side could serve as staging when running HO and vice versa.
On30 will require wider track spacing and clearance on both sides than normal HO.
If you have the room I would opt for 5 feet wide split 2 ft on the HO side and 3 ft on the On30 size. This will help accommodate the larger O scale buildings.
If you opt for some of the longer On30 engines make sure your minimum radius will handle them.
Good luck
Paul
Use the NMRA gauge for On30 and not HO for all clearances including tunnel portals.
As others have mentioned , watch your clearances and it will work as you wish. (tunnels, overpass, distance between track in yards, etc)
