Just curious if any of you guys run your trains for fun only, like the toy train people do, or are you all serious modelers?
I run both ways, I enjoy watching them go roundie round, but more and more lately i’ve been doing real operation.
I only run for fun.
Wait, I model for fun.
No wait, I do operations for fun.
Uh, I give up. I’m serious.
If is ain’t fun I don’t do it. I do like to see them just run, like the real ones from long ago, I just watched and marveled.
I run them in a circle more then I do operations, both ways are fun for me.

It’s all fun to me.
I operate for fun. Does that count?
I run for fun, because I don’t have a layout. My first layout is going to be built for continuous running moreso than operations, but there still will be some. I don’t have any experience with operations yet, so I’m going to start out slow, then increase as time does.
I am setting here at the computer and at the same time watching a lone LL amtrack engine slowly run laps as Art said if it ain’t fun I don’t do it…Cox 47
And why can’t serious modeling be fun? I love all of it! In fact the more serious I am about model railroading, the more fun it is. [8D]
it’s all for fun isn’t it ?
All is fun. I like to watch laps being run by my trains, but also like to have some switching operations go on between my lap runnings.
Fun, of course, otherwise it’s a business or obsession, right?? are we having fun yet??
the freelance operation is the fun part.

Both are fun for me. I like to do switching puzzles and sorting cars in a yard, but I also like to sit back and watch the trains roll by.
Running trains for fun is the only thing I do with trains.

Unless you get a W2 at the end of the year for trains, you are doing it for fun. Some people just “play” a lot more serious than others. [:D]
Fun.
