running trains

Well one of my buddys came over last night that I havent seen in a bout 3 months and we got to visit. After the initial 45 minute visit he pipes up “so whats new with the train?” This surprised me greatly cause I never figured Wayne (buddy) as having any interrest in trains. We go to the boys room and he goes apey. Looking around talking bout having trains when he was a kid and thusandsuch. So we got involved in what turned out to be a 2 1/2 hour op session. Now let me remind yall that we have a 5x9 single track main with 2 spurs that serve a mine…one spur that serves a distributer a loco and maint. spur and the one spur that leads back out of the mine… so there was a good bit og switching and a few roundy round on the oval. Boy did we have fun…Tried to run as a real rr with me as a conductor and Wayne as engeneer…that was GREAT. It was the first experence with another person other than the boy and it was different. A bit more something.dont know what but it was something…I want the operunity to run on a BIG layout and experence this with other people to see if it is as GREAT as I think it would be …well there ya go

Well, So much for needing a Huge layout to enjoy operations… Maybe the BIG layout you get to try it on will be your buddies layout as you’ve inducted him into the hobby…

Chessie,
I got a freind that was the same way too, he badgered me about it and took no interest in it at all for years. Now he owns a few loco’s and about 10 freight cars, he took interest in it finally and leaves his items at my place because he does not have room for a layout, he even has a key to the train area so he can come over and do his thing if I am not there. We both spend hours running the mainline and switching in yards. It took me several years to get him interested in MR but he loves it now.

I’ve got a few buddies that are also like that. At first the just joked about my trains but now they are coming over and heading straight to the basement. Its kinda funny stepping back and watching these guys running trains.

Sounds Good.
