Russian Railways to order 350 electric locomotives

Why six years to build 350 locomotives? Are they inventing them or what?

Reads like history may be repeating itself. Didn’t the old Milwaukee Road end up with electric locomotives on their line across the Rocky Mountains that were originally built the Russians but were never delivered?

It would be welcome news if the equivalent were going to be built here in the USA for an American property such as the BNSF or the UPRR for their mainline, long distance service, i.e., heavy haul.

An artist concept sketch would have helped along with the stats about the locomotives.

It least there are eminating from Erie or Fort Worth. They already have toooooo much business anyway

The locomotives will be delivered BY 2020. One could imply from this, that they are being delivered at about 50 units per year.

It would be a welcomed event if that was being done here in the USA along with stringing the overhead for them to operate. Better that than using LNG or CNG to power diesels.

An artist concept picture would have been interesting to see.

Glad to know that they are updating their fleet.

How about an artist concept drawing?

It would be good to know such an order would be for a US freight railroad that would have wire above the tracks.

They have to figure out whether to power them with 12 volt car type batteries or a whole bunch of D type dry batteries.
