RYPN is coming back!

According to rypn.org, they now have a new board of directors and are working to have the site up and running by Sunday evening. They’ll have a new set of guidelines for anyone wishing to join.

Good to see ths site coming back even though I hadn’t visited it yet. The one director that I know, John Smatlak, is a pretty decent guy and wish them the best of luck with the renewed website.

Well that’s good to know!

I wish someone would bring back “Locomotive And Railway Preservation” magazine! Man, how I miss “Eleanor P!”

Was that the oldest thead you could resurrect?[:D]

There were some even older but they didn’t interest me!

In fact, with only one or two responses apparantly they didn’t interest anyone else!

The ancient thing of interest is to go back and resurrect the threads on RyPN involving its shutdown, and then follow how that situation was resolved to give us the present resource. (Note that the major reason for the shutdown is today one of the more respected posters…)

The termination of Eleanor P as a magazine has been discussed many times. I doubt it’s coming back as any kind of distinct publication, even a Web-based one along the lines of the trains.com monthly online subscriptions. Where the effort needs to go is in resuscitating the ability to post articles to the RyPN site…

These days it seems like he loses a bit of respect every time he posts… …hopefully no potential AFT 2.0 sponsors ever look at his online history.

No. Honestly I gave up any hope of Eleanor P ever coming back a long time ago. [:'(]

But as the saying goes, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!”

In my opinion, RyPN the discussion board is already worth a hundred Eleanor Ps in practical value to the preservation community. And Preston Cook’s upcoming efforts alone will double and redouble that value…
