Does anyone have pictures of, or a place to search for illustrations of s-160 class 2-8-0 consolidations? Specifically Alaska railroad #'s 401,402,404,405,406 . If so please post. As always, thanks in advance. radar
Have you tried typing variations on “Alaska RR S160 2-8-0” into Google?
If not, give it a try. you may be surprised at what you can find on Google.
You mean like this? http://www.alaskarails.org/pix/former-loco/HV-402.html
All I did was type Alaska Railroad 2-8-0 into Google. Found this: http://www.alaskarails.org/glance/complete-roster.html
That’s where I found the pic.
'Course it’s not an S-160, but that was one of the numbers you asked for.
This http://www.alaskarails.org/pix/former-loco/CT-554.html is an S-160.
Google is your friend.
EDIT: Incidentally, DJH over on the other side of the pond sells a kit for an S-160.

Radar,
Just to let you know, Alaska RR #401-406 are not S-160’s. The S-160’s were 551-562.
Here’s a link to ARR steam locos with many photos:

DJH or Model Loco Works does make an excellent model of the as-built S-160 in HO. It’s kinda pricey but is an outstanding model. Alaska RR modeler Pat Durand has built 2 and has pages in a web site showing them:

Here’s the site on the ARR that Pat uses to display his work:
Here’s a great site with almost anything you want to research. Try US Army and see what pops up!

Searching for S-160’s is easy and there are a ton of places with photos and information available just by searching for them as S-160s.
Glad someone else loves these engines too! Good hunting!
