A CSX Railroad worker is dead after his truck was hit by a train. The crash happened just after 5:00 on Thursday evening near the intersection of North Central Avenue and Fremont Road in Minoa. As of Thursday night, the man’s body was still trapped in the wreckage. Police are still investigating exactly what happened. Amtrax did experience some delays while the tracks were cleared, but trains began to move again around 8:30 PM.
Horrifying and saddening.
My prayers and condolences to this man’s family and friends.
I remember reading a Transportation Career Outlook book way back in 1978, when I was a teen. Some of you over 40 may remember seeing those books in high school libraries. One statement in that book that still stands out so clearly in my memory:
Though it can be rewarding; railroading is a very dangerous profession, indeed.
