San Francisco Municipal Railway 100th Anniversary to be celebrated Dec. 28
Fortunately (after 4 years’ unemployment) I have a new job, and in SF no less. Unfortunately I had to work today so only got to take advantage of “no fares Friday” for the 100th in using the newer T-Third LRV line to get to work. I couldn’t take in any of the celebratory runs of the Muni “Iron Monster” or Muni No.1, let alone anything else on the F-Line or cables. sigh Oh, and my outbound T-Line LRV broke down en route to work…that’s the MUNI for ya’! Stuck-open doors… and of course the driver (we don’t have motormen anymore) had to fuss with them and never explained to the carfull of commuters why we weren’t moving or that another car behind us would pick us up at the next station… double sigh…
Happy Birthday, Muni! From the Bredas to the F Line, may you see another 100 years. And keep those “little cable cars climbing halfway to the stars”.
Happy Birthday Muni! Many great rides more!
