San Joaquin Valley? Sounds like California to me, but this obviously isn’t there at all.
Mr. Jones, the subject railroad operates in the Fresno to Bakersfield, CA, area. What may make you wonder if it is in CA would be the 85% contribution of $7.1M to pay for the rebuilt power. That is what startles me, too. The state is closing its parks, cutting back on educating its populace and paying for “clean” motive power. The priorities seem a bit out of kilter.
The air in the Great Central Valley (San Joaquin Valley) is some of the filthest in the nation thanks mostly to the agricultural business that feeds our nation. Any help we can get from tier 4 emissions standards is okay by us. We need all the help we can get!
@ Mr Bates.Yes California is closing parks and other things for lack of money. However the Fresno area now has 3 of the top 10 most air polluted areas in the country because of dirty diesel water pumping. They are switching over as they can to electric.Clean diesel trains are needed here more than most anywhere.
