san pedro & southwestern & yuma valley

Does anyone know if the san pedro & southwestern railway and yuma valley railway are still in operation or are they out of business?

The San Pedro & Southwestern went out of business over 5 years ago. The rail was all taken up 2 years ago except for the first 5 miles between Benson and Apache Nitrogen Products in Saint David.

I have no knowledge of the Yuma Valley and have never heard of it – too far away from me. I’m only 8 miles from the former San Pedro & Southwestern roadbed.

I was just looking at my Southern Pacific Timetables. The 1987 Timetable lists a branch called the Yuma Valley Railroad. It goes 6.1 miles west then southwest from Yuma to the station of Steam. The 1989 Timetable lists the branch as the Somerton Branch. Apparently SP bought the Yuma Valley RR sometime before 1987. Is SPSW 1754 still working the remains of the SPSW?
