Sand House

I am building a sand house and I am having trouble finding or thinking of a material to model the sand. Regular sand is too large. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Woodland scenes FINE ballast is very close. Option #2 is to take the FINE ballast and GRIND it smaller. There is a kitchen tool for crushing spices, wood bowl with wood tamp. (wife is looking for hers LOL)

Thanks, George, for the excellent idea. I have the fine ballast on hand. It didn’t occur to me to grind it smaller! I seem to have hit a mind block. Thanks again.
