Sandpoint depot renovation moves forward

And I believe Idaho is the only state with just one station. Even Delaware has two.

The sentence should read, “The Project has already realigned U.S. 95 in the Sandpoint area”. Not only is it the only Amtrak station in the state of Idaho, but it used to be a beautiful spot to watch trains a decade ago, with a lovely view of the lake to enjoy while waiting. It was quiet as well. Bird song quiet. Then BNSF sold the property between the station and the lake, and the view was destroyed by a large condo development that now stands in the way. Then the IDOT decided to build the highway realignment which caused the location to sound like a freeway all the time. It sounds like they are going to destroy everything antique inside the station as well, now. Classic mirrors, tiled walls, restrooms with the original sinks, etc, all will be gone. Nothing will probably be the same after the contractor gets done with it. Sad. Very, very sad.

The Pioneer used to serve Boise but, unfortunately the Train was discontinued under the Clinton Adminisration. Many patrons got screwed out a viable train.

I agree. Those condos are huge (each is over 3000 sq. ft.) and they’re rarely occupied outside of summer. At least we have a view of the trestle from the boat ramp area of the park. I should bid on the contents of the depot. I’ll contact the contractor after they’re announced.

How about a photo or two or three so we can see what we’re talking about? Just might be more interesting!
