Santa came early!!

Mrs. Clause brought me an early Christmas gift today. She said
she knew how much I wanted it, so I shouldn’t have to wait 'til
Christmas… which was fine with me[:D].

And for Antonio: Here’s the “tuxedo” paint scheme you were talking about.
I really like this scheme and it gives a little contrast to my all green and
white Southern Ry fleet. Enjoy

“Coming 'round the bend”

This loco is smooth as silk and sounds great. You should have seen me
with this one and my P2K E6 running side by side… with me trying to
decide which one sounded better. The result… they both sound great!
The BLI has a slightly deeper horn, but other than that, there is no clear
winner. Dave

Awesome!!! She looks great!

Merry Christmas, Dave!

That’s one sweet lookin’ E8. [8D] Enjoy! [:D]

As for me, my purple ACL E6 A/B set arrived from the North Pole just Friday. I’m looking forward to dispatching them to Richmond to head the next southbound run of The Champion! [:p]

-Dave

You lucky dog!!! My trains under the tree all wrapped up!!!( at least I got to see the same one at the show I went to today)

Aww, now I want one! She looks great!

Loathar,
That reminds me of Christmas two years ago. I had to look at a present under the tree
that was the size and shape of a Rivarossi Allegheny. I had to suffer for a
couple of weeks as that present called my name from under the tree. It actually took
me 'til Christmas Eve before I convinced Nancy to let me open it!

So, what’s under your tree?!?[:p] Good luck, Dave

Good for you!

I’ll have to get myself a holiday present. Once I build up enough funds…

Aggro,
I don’t know why you want a new locomotive… all you’re gonna do is get it all dirty![:D]

But seriously, I have never known anyone who can make something so dirty look so
good!! Merry Christmas, Dave

Ever seen “Debbie does Dallas”???

Jeff

Lucky!!! BLI E8 w/ sound! awesome!!! I’m afraid to go to sound because I know i’ll want to equip all my locos once I have it, and thats something a bit out of price range!

Wow, she’s a beauty.

I already got the christmas present to myself, I got started on the layout.

And a Happy New Year, you get to run it.

Here’s a shot of my new E8 with her siblings. I have this problem of not
being able to pass up an E unit when I visit the LHS. I think my “Train Guy”
knows how much I like 'em and keeps them on order.[:P] He’s holding another
P2K E6 A/B as we speak. I need this like I need a hole in the head… but I’ll buy
it anyway. It’s a sickness!

Anyone else have a certain loco that they just can’t resist? Or is it just me? Dave

Nice[:D] Dave- I kind of have a thing with GP-38s i dont have on yet but will tommorow[:P] (i hope). also i think im getting a sound system to!

Yep, but mine don’t come in A or B units and they a usually black and pull a tender and have an ERIE diamond on their sides, but not necessarily.[(-D][(-D] Oh, by the way, Merry Merry and Happy Happy

Don’t get me wrong, I love my steam locos. I have always thought of myself as a steam
fan… and then I got my first E6.

Ever since, I have had an affection for early diesels as well as steam. There is something
about old diesels running along side a steamer. One thing I can’t get into is later diesels.
To me, they lost some of their personality somewhere along the way. Modern diesel all
look alike to me.

So, being as prototypical as possible, I run the diesels with the steam. Good luck, Dave

NICE! If only i needed one of those, i dont think my CNW SD60, or Dash 9 for that matter , would look good around a E8? But i love F Units, and i do have a CNW F3 and a B Unit. Then again, i dont have that much money to buy a nice P2K E unit, or do i? How much do, say a Rock Island or CNW one run?

Alec

Dave,
I’m always kidding my son about the modern units-I tell him they look like electrical cabinets. Sometimes I shorten it to just utility cabinets. [:)] The “covered wagons” are [8D] !
As many have found doing the transition period gives the modeler a wide latitude re motive power.

Merry Christmas,
Jon

railroadyoshi,
You can lessen the costs by researching magazine(MR) ads and ebay. My only “utility cabinet” a GP7 was sourced from eBay for $103.10 which included shipping. My BLI Pennsy M1b was via Standard Hobby Supply(MR advertiser) for $144.99; shipping was approximately $10.00. Most recent purchase a BLI Light Mikado was also via eBay at a cost of $138.41 which included shipping. Both BLI purchases were new engines, the GP7 was used. There are a number of vendors on eBay who are very reputable, some are even somebody’s LHS.
I use these sources for purchase because local hobby shop has an LGB/Lionel/MTH/Williams “complex” and HO gets short shift. Obviously the prices using these sources are a consideration.
As cited previously on the forum Trainworld is currently running an inventory reduction on BLI Hudsons; also GG-1’s.
I realize costs are a relative thing but “sound” is possible with a bit of consumer research. Until you build up your roster you could run a singular sound loco as a following section! [:D] There are times when a silent session is nice-the din from all those wheel flanges protesting on curves, the coupler crash in the yard, the whistling/horn usage at grade crossings, pumps signing on and off, brake squeal, etc. it’s like, “Enough already!” [:)]

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Audible(?) New Year,
Jon

i coulnt resist an HO sharknose, c415, h1644or RS11. the e-8 looks beautiful.

heres a question- whats everyones favorite styleish locomotive? i need to choose the sharknose. theyre sort of majestic looking. id use them for fast frieght service if i had a big layout.
