I appreciate the comments on the thread last month on the D40 and other digital cameras.
For those of you with digital SLR’s, how many of the features do you use? There is considerable amount to learn…lots of functions and settings to learn.

Sit down somewhere with the manual and try out the features one by one on the camera, it’s the best way to find out what your camera does and figuer out what you might use. Have fun with your new camera!

Thanks for the advise…been doing that, quite a bit to learn.
Hope we get some sunny weather today, but it doesnt look like it. We are getting up to 50mph wind gusts and the temps are dropping. Just checked the weather and Chicago dropped 10 degrees in 24 minutes.

Congrats on the new toy.
I need to spend more time learning the features on my Digital Rebel, but I’m used to my old Pentax, so just putting it in “P” mode works fine. I rarely get ‘fancy’ with my shooting.
On the other hand, it would be handy to know a little more about it, just because my daughter occasionally borrows it and I never know what mode I’ll find it in when I get back…
