Santa Fe #9 & 10 Business Car Floor Plan?

Hello,

I’m getting around to a project that I’ve had on my shelf for a while and I’d like to fabricate a bit of an interior for this gorgeous Pecos River Santa Fe business car.

I’m familiar with the layout of many cars of this type and can certainly cobble a good representation of it but why not get it as accurate as possible for #9 and #10? I can see the window arrangement for the kitchen, dining room, master bedroom and annex, 2 additional bedrooms and the observation lounge.

I have Googled (found a lot of car dealers in New Mexico’s capital city!) and only came close with this plan, interestingly enough, for a “photographic car” ex #30.

This car has the distinctive side sill steel beam that AFAIK is a trademark of Santa Fe. I’ll probably use it as a private car and not letter it for Santa Fe. It might become a stand-in for a Nickel Plate business car which my roster could use. Concevably, the NKP could have bought the car from Santa Fe [:-^]

The details are outstanding on this car so it deserves to have a decent looking interior. any help would be appreciated.

The Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society sells a book titled “Santa Fe Railway Passenger Car Reference Series–Volume Four Business & Special Purpose Cars”. There’s 467 photos and 78 diagrams. I’d look there.

If you hesitate to spend the money without knowing if your problem will be solved, you could ask about the matter on the ATSF Yahoo Group.

I see the book you mentioned runs about $65. and since I only need the one floor plan, which I can “guesstimate” I’ll check out the Yahoo group and see what I can find there. I appreciate the information, Ed
